I have a particular tutoring style for writing which some students like and others don't. I use the old rhetorical method which simply means I believe in questioning the student about their paper. Usually when students are unable to explain what they wrote or why they wrote it, it becomes clear why they are struggling. I know any student can write, but sometimes all you need is just that extra push in order to succeed. I have nearly 3 years tutoring experience beginning at SMC where I was a Supplemental Instructor in 2008. I didn't get paid for tutoring again until graduate school at Dominguez Hills where I'm currently finishing my M.A. degree. I happened to be recommended by one of my friends to tutor at West L.A. College's Writing from March 2011 to December 2012. I helped students with a range of subjects like ESL, English, History, Speech etc. and other stuff like transfer essays, scholarship essays, and honors program essays.
