Experience
Eighteen years of tutoring experience has given me a refreshing perspective on teaching. I feel comfortable working with all types of learners, including ESL and ELL students. I work just as well with graduate students as I do with first graders, and never make either one of them feel like I am talking to the other. Some advantages of working with me is my ability to switch gears quickly, my versatility when working with various student learning types, and the guidance I provide with homework and goal management. Patience and respect for my students enhance my lessons by allowing the student to work with confidence. Confidence aids in learning the task at hand, but it also increases the odds that a student will develop a love of learning. I can help a student build confidence by learning English, enhancing test skills, or sharpening reading comprehension. I'm also proficient at helping students prepare for the ACT, ASPIRE, COMPASS, CAHSEE, DAT, GRE, PCAT, PSAT, and SAT. When not amping up confidence and knowledge in my students, I enjoy hiking, yoga, meditation, and playing the blues harmonica. I also love to explore my imagination via creative writing and reading.
